Being aware that you could potentially be attacked is part of creating your personal security awareness. It is greater than accepting the fact that you need to take a pro-active action. In creating your personal security acceptance you need to develop the knowledge and consideration about your environment. It is an insight of when and how you will be prepared to defend yourself, meaning whether you choose a self defense spray, stun guns, TASER or martial arts moves.
Focus is the main awareness factor. Focusing is a portion of our daily routines; we tend to do this on whatever is in the moment. In creating personal security awareness we need to learn when we should pay closer attention to a possible situation. The issue at hand is we live in an increasingly hazardous atmosphere, which provides more susceptibility to criminal attacks on the street.
In development on personal security awareness we need to pay closer attention and mind focus on our personal security when we may be susceptible to vulnerability. This is common when we are out doing things on our own, jogging, shopping, walking. In these situations we are isolated from those around us. By training you to contemplate your security when alone and exude more awareness of your surroundings. Is there a threat nearby?
An example of this is while walking to your vehicle after a day of shopping you should be focusing on what are around you not your packages, fumbling for your keys or talking on the phone. Is there a potential threat? Is anyone behind you? Stay focused turn and look. Are people near your car? All these questions are potential risks to you that you should be conscious of.
Many of us have been accustomed to stay to yourself, mind your business. We tend to not make eye contact with others it’s not polite to stare. This is exactly what you should be doing. Check all around you, look directly at others, notice the clothing they are wearing, are they walking in the same direction as you, are there more than one, and are you a possible target?
Many attacks are brought on by surprise to the victims. This is partly due to not having security awareness about your surroundings. The victims of these horrible crimes will usually say that the criminal came out of nowhere, well not true, they came from somewhere. You just weren’t being aware of your surroundings. This is crucial in self protection. Train your mind on providing yourself personal security awareness!
This can mean the difference in staying safe or becoming someone’s next victim.
