Stun Gun for Personal Protection

Stun guns are a hand-held, battery operated defense devices that delivers an electric shock to anyone who is stunned.  Stun guns have two prongs at one end of the device.  Stunning an attacker with the prongs while pulling the trigger causes an electrical current to go from the prongs through clothing of the attacker and into his body.

By doing this the pulsed current causes muscles to work super fast and depletes the blood sugars.  This also interrupts the neurological impulses that control muscle movement.  The results are loss of balance and disorientation.  The entire process happens within a few seconds and is severely painful.  It can disable a person for up to 30 minutes.

Rule of thumb when using stun guns, a one second contact with the device will repel, startle and cause muscle contraction.  One to two seconds will cause muscle spasms and a dazed state.  Three or more seconds will cause loss of balance and muscle control, mental confusion and severe disorientation.  The attacker will be unable to recover for several minutes and effects may last for up to fifteen minutes.  You want to be able to hold the stun device on the attacker for as long as possible, the longer the better its effects.

There isn't any need to worry about you being shocked while shocking someone else.  The electrical charge is absorbed in the muscles and doesn't pass through to the user, regardless of conditions.  Even if the attacker has a hold on you, there isn't anyway the charge will pass to you.

Stun guns are proven safe and will not cause any permanent damage to an attacker.  There has been no evidence that the electrical charge of a stun gun that has any adverse effects.  Stun guns do not permanently harm or kill because of the voltage.  Amperage is what kill and stun guns can only deliver 3 milliamps.  It takes one amp to kill someone; the levels are much lower than the amperage that could do any harmful damage to an individual.

Most all stun guns come with a safety switch and will not activate until you release the safety switch to the off position.  When operating the stun guns, hold the probes firmly against an attacker.  Make sure to target an area that is hard such as the upper shoulder or upper hip area.  Arms or hands are not good contacts as the person can move them away from the stun.  To ensure take down of the attacker you will need to hold the stun gun against their body for at least 3 to  seconds, more time is required if the person is larger or you are using a lower voltage model.  Stun guns can also be fired repeatedly to take down attackers before the battery needs recharging or replacement.  Remember to change or recharge the batteries.

You can take your stun gun with you while traveling on airlines as long as you are checking in your baggage.  You may want to check with the airlines and airport you plan on traveling with prior to packing your defense device to make sure you are complying with their regulations.
