Are you at risk of being stalked?

Many individuals have become amongst the three million who are being stalked.  Do you have to be famous in order for this to happen to you?  Absolutely not.  Countless people who are both men and women have filed for restraining orders in the US alone.  This was reported in 2006 which in these times I’m sure that number has drastically increased.
 

Being a woman, should you have concerns?  Don’t confuse stalking with admiration, don’t allow yourself to fall into the flattered stage as it truly can be a stalker situation.  What could start out as a harmless flirtation can hopelessly turn into you becoming a rape victim or even worse a murdered victim?

 

Becoming familiar with certain signs of a stalker can in fact save your life.  The following are signs of a potential stalker.

It seems like no matter where you are you keep bumping into the same person.  While it may not need immediate attention if you are running into the same person while at the gym it may be a serious concern if you find that same person in a variety of places you may be visiting.  If you see a person checking you out in the morning while getting your coffee and you again see that same person later in the day at the store you should have concerns.  

 

If you feel as though you are being watched chances are you are.  Don’t disregard this as I’m imagining things, take it seriously.  Stalkers will surveillance you from a short distance.  They want to know as much as they can about you, your daily schedule, where you go, what time you come home, do you live alone?

If you start receiving phone calls and no one is there when you answer, you may have a stalker.   Be extremely conscious of this as someone may be checking on whether you are home or not. 

Have you become a victim of burglary, vandalism and the like?  Beware as stalkers like to see their potential victim in a terrified state.  They are letting you know that access to you and your belongings is theirs.

Taking precaution in the above and seeking out help from the police department can prevent you from becoming a victim.  Always stay focused and pay attention to your surroundings.  If for any reason you feel as though you are being stalked, don't hesitate in seeking help.  You may want to purchase yourself a self defense device to have with you at all times.
