Law enforcement personnel are trained in the use of effectively utilizing less-lethal self defense weapons. By using a canister of pepper spray rather than drawing their firearm is just plain smart when warranted.
We have heard many incidences on the news lately on the use of pepper spray by law enforcement in a crowd situation. As we all know police officers may or may not be over stepping their boundaries in certain circumstances in the use of pepper sprays; however the fact remains they do indeed work if you use it properly.
What's great about using pepper sprays is that you have distance between you and the attacker. It's important however that you keep the proper distance. A good distance to keep in mind is between six and ten feet. You don't want to be too close as you may also experience the affects of the pepper spray, then on the other hand you can't be too far as it may not reach the person you are spraying. To make sure you know the proper distance of the style you have chosen to carry, check the instructions on its distance level.
By shooting the pepper spray on any other parts of the body other than the facial area will not provide you its effectiveness. You have to point and shoot at the face to the eyes and nose area of the attacker. By spraying to the facial area the recipient will immediately experience a sensation of heat and burning which results in the attacker becoming incapacitated. At this time you should run to safety and seek help.
Aiming and hitting someone directly to the face is not a simple task. For this reason use a S pattern when spraying and aim at the top of the chest to the face area. This will give you better aim at hitting the face and incapacitate the assailant.
It's crucially important that you carry your self defense spray on your person at all times in an appropriate easily accessible spot. Don't make it obvious that you are carrying the pepper spray; you don't want to give the attacker advanced warning. Let him get close enough and surprise the attacker with a blast of pepper spray. You don't want him to be able to respond prior, element of surprise is key in defending you.

Why won't you Protect you?
I'm sure while watching the television news you can understand why so many of us have decided to purchase personal safety devices for ourselves. With all the assaults, murders, rapes, carjacking, domestic violence and people just plain going off their rocker and taking down incident people for the hell of it, it’s no wonder why you wouldn’t want to protect yourself.
Carrying self defense weapons is not only smart, it’s the wisest decision you could make for you and your loved ones. There are so many crazies out there today; it’s only a matter of time before you or someone you know becomes someone’s next target.
Carrying self defense weapons is not only smart, it’s the wisest decision you could make for you and your loved ones. There are so many crazies out there today; it’s only a matter of time before you or someone you know becomes someone’s next target.
I know many of you will read this and think oh she’s just crazy and being plain paranoid. I’m telling you this out of safety concerns not paranoia. I can write a thousand articles a thousand different ways about the same issue and yet many of you choose to ignore your personal safety. I can’t understand why people have this belief that this can’t happen to me. It can and if you are a woman especially your odds just tripled of getting attacked.
Look around, do you know someone who has been attacked? A friend, co-worker, relative? If you don’t then you have been one of the lucky ones up to now.
That person you just walked by could have been last night’s victim to someone. Maybe, just maybe that person was smart enough and had a self defense device on them and used it to save their life. There are many victims who walk amongst us. The numbers aren’t made up, thousands of people right now as I’m writing this are being murdered, raped, assaulted, carjacked and violated by someone they know. This is serious and one needs to take matters into their own hands. Don’t allow yourself to be the criminal’s next victim.
Purchasing you a self defense weapon and/or home security protection in this era has become a necessity. With so many out of work the crime rate has sky rocketed. There’s no quick fix to this and won’t be its only going to get worse. It’s not just the common criminal out there today, unfortunately there’s people like you and me who have lost everything due to this economy and have become desperate and turned to crime.
We can’t take our safety for granted anymore personal or otherwise.

Small Wonders of Pepper Spray! Which Should You Buy?
Pepper sprays are one of the most up to the minute in self defense weapons.
Pepper sprays are very affordable; most of them are $20 or less depending on size, very easy to use and are one of the most effective self defense weapons.
Pepper sprays can help even the weakest of persons get away from a potential attacker. Their effectiveness is quite strong and can last for hours after being sprayed. Pepper sprays come in all sizes, forms and styles which doesn’t make it easy to choose the one that’s best for you!
While shopping for pepper spray make sure you look for OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) an ingredient derived from hot peppers. This is very important as some of the sprays on the market do not have OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) and will not work properly. Pepper sprays are measured by Scoville heat (SHU).
How you choose to carry your new self defense weapon is also a major factor as to which style and size you purchase. Pepper sprays come in small sized pens to one pound containers. They can be bought as a keychain style with a detachable latch, lipstick form to carry in your purse, however be careful with this style as you might not be able to easily access it in your purse as it’s very compact and can be easily lost inside your bag! The smallest ½ ounce sizes will have enough pepper spray for approximately 20 - ½ second bursts which is definitely enough to take your attacker down. There is also a visor clip pepper spray, great for the car!
Pepper sprays cause severe lung irritation, coughing, tearing and temporary blindness which can last for hours after being pepper sprayed. Additionally OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) usually ranges from 10% to 18% in strength!
Whichever pepper spray you choose to purchase for you or a loved one, you can be sure it will do the job of taking down your attacker. Many people make light of pepper spray and its power, don’t take it for granted. This little defense tool will take care of business!

CITY LIVING! SMALL TOWN WOES!

This Keychain Personal Alarm as compact as it is packs alot of sound!
Whether you live in the midst of a big city or are visiting, it is fundamental to know how to stay safe. Most out of towners who may hail from a small rural area may be set back a bit while visiting a big city by the quantity of criminal and violence that occurs, by awareness and keeping in tuned to your surroundings while visiting bigger cities you have a better chance of staying safer no matter where you travel to.
It is imperative that you understand the surroundings you are in and are alert to it. Tourists are great targets in this environment. Be cautious on where you go, and concentrate on everything around you. A would-be criminal doesn’t want to be seen prior to a crime and is lurking in the background waiting on people who appear to be unfamiliar in the territory they are exploring.
Night life is exciting in the big cities, stay in an area that is well lighted. The last thing you want is to find yourself on a dark street or alley; this is the perfect area an attacker is hoping to take his victim. Always try to be with a group of people while walking in the big city or anywhere for that matter. Assailants are less likely to take on a group. If you have to walk on your own, walk quickly, pay close attention and get to your destination as fast as possible. If you are approaching a vehicle get in as fast as you can and make sure you lock the doors before you do anything else. Criminals thrive on the element of surprise; you don’t want to let them have an opportunity.
Many, many people are out and about in the big city, you stand a higher chance of being assaulted. These criminals that are lurking are watching you and will prowl the victims they believe are carrying a lot of cash or appear to have valuable items. Separate your money so it’s not all in your wallet or pocket. This way you don’t have to show all the money you are carrying when you are purchasing something. As farfetched as this may seem some people actually carry a money belt on them. Although this may seem like a great idea, the whole point here is not to have all your money in one spot. Watch your wallet, there are many pick pockets out on the street, they are very good at what they do too. They can take your wallet without you even noticing until you go to get money from it. Utilizing your front pockets is probably a better spot to keep your credit cards and other items.
If you are carrying a purse, which I don’t suggest, make sure you have placed closely to your body and hold on to it tightly. A wise choice is to wear a fanny pack with the opening in the front of you.
Be wary of people who may approach you on the street. Obviously not all are bad, but you must believe that anyone can be a potential threat. Let’s face it even the best of looking individuals can be your worst nightmare. If you don’t feel comfortable with the conversation excuse yourself and continue on. You may discover that they are following you, make sure you stay in a well lit public place. If you are capable at this point you will need to either find a policeman, which in the big cities are usually out and about on every corner or go to the police station.
While it is important that you always carry some sort of protection, a personal alarm may be just the device for big city trips. These personal alarms are meant to be heard and draw attention to the situation at hand. The last thing a would-be criminal wants is attention on him.

The Use Of Pepper Sprays-Great Tips!

When using Pepper Sprays there are a lot of aspects you should consider so you are properly using the pepper sprays. Make sure you are spraying away from your eyes and aim directly at your attackers face. Pepper spray could help save your life in a situation you otherwise might not be able to physically handle. It is very important to learn the proper methods of shooting pepper sprays so you can get it right the first time. The last thing you want is to have your self defense weapons backfire on you.
The basic teachings to spraying pepper sprays is to first make sure the safety is turned off and your pepper spray is in ready mode to spray. Hold the pepper spray canister in the upright position and press down on the trigger. Make sure you are physically balanced with both feet placed steadily on the ground.
Your aim should be directly into the assailants face spraying him/her into their eyes. Continue spraying and follow their head as they try to get away from the spray. Once you have pepper sprayed your attacker and you know it is a good time to get away don’t waste anytime go for help.
Make sure you keep your attention focused on the situation at hand. Don’t take your eyes off your attacker while spraying. Many individuals close their eyes while using pepper sprays which takes the focus off your target.

Do not show your potential attacker that you are nervous on using your pepper spray. Take control of the situation; let your assailant know you mean business by not letting him/her see your fear. I know this seems hard to do, but you must have control, if you show you are afraid it can backfire on you.
While spraying your pepper sprays make sure you keep your finger down on the trigger for at least a few seconds for the pepper spray to be utilized to its potential. If you don’t use this method the pepper spray will not spray out as it should and you will not get the effects that it should give.
When purchasing pepper sprays it is a good idea to practice with it. Set your target up and use the spray on it. Always keep your attention on the situation at hand, never let your guard down and do not let your attacker feel your fear. Always make sure you a going for the face area while using your pepper sprays. The most important thing to remember; is to ALWAYS have your pepper spray in ready mode. You purchased it for a reason; don’t forget that you have it. Keep it on your person at all times. The element of surprise to your attacker is key! He or she probably has not experienced being sprayed with pepper spray and won’t expect it nor the hurting feeling that comes with getting sprayed with pepper sprays.

Pepper Sprays! The Dos and Don’ts
Pepper sprays are legal in all 50 states and territories of the US. In some states the pepper sprays are regulated but still legal.
Even though self defense sprays are not lethal they will and do cause pain. The hurting and affliction are very momentary. The entire point of the function of self defense sprays is to disrupt an attacker’s assault by creating a short-term distraction, like anguish. When you are triumphant in transferring a stream of pepper spray into your assailant’s face, the unbearable hurting will replace his spotlight from the assault to defending himself. At this instant of disruption, you have to get away as fast as you can.
Accidents do happen so be cautious when
After you receive the pepper spray you have purchased check the pepper spray to make sure it is protected inside the case or that the cover is closed properly. Check the pepper spray regularly to make sure it is safe. Check the safety to make sure the pepper spray is in the locked position.
Don’t leave the pepper sprays in the car on severely hot days. You should be carrying it on you anyways! The heat an enclosed vehicle can generate is severely above recommended temperatures that you should keep the pepper sprays at. Neglecting the pepper spray inside the car you are taking a risk of leakage, contamination of your vehicle and damaging the pepper spray itself.
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
In the event you are sprayed with the pepper spray, don’t panic. Pepper sprays are oiled based so I don’t recommend washing your face with water as it will not really help the situation. You will experience burning eyes, tearing, difficulty breathing and impaired vision. It will be painful but will subside over a period of time. It usually takes approximately 20-40 minutes for the pain to subside but the grief may last longer.
Towelettes made especially for pepper spray removal are available at most retailers where pepper sprays are sold. It will lessen the skin exposure to the pepper spray.
Please take a moment after purchasing your pepper spray to learn the proper method of use. This way in the event you should need to use it you will have been fully versed on how to operate it.
It is imperative while purchasing self defense sprays that you carry it on your person at all times. It will not do you any good if you don’t have it with you when you need it most. You should always have it in ready mode whether you believe you might need it at that moment or not. It is better to be safe than sorry as the old saying goes.

The Working of Pepper Sprays
Holding a pepper in your hand doesn’t feel any different than holding a piece of fruit, right? Now take that same pepper and put it to your lips or on your tongue, you will feel the heat!
The capsaicin in a pepper reacts with the nerve endings in your mucous membranes that are responsive to heat and cold. That is why your mouth will burn when eating a spicy pepper.
Capsaicin is the same component that makes peppers seem hot, its effectiveness is calculated in Scoville heat units (SHU) a heat scale that is used to figure the heat intensity of peppers. The whole heat level is derived on the quantity of capsaicin exists. On average pepper spray is rated between 500,000 and 5,000,000 SHU. To give a comparison, a Jalapeno pepper is approximately 8,000 SHU. Other types of hot peppers rate close to 350,000 SHU.
The harshness effects of pepper sprays will vary depending on the quantity of pepper spray that is used, the potency of the spray and where it's sprayed. If sprayed precisely into someone’s face, the effects will probably be more powerful and/or longer-lasting.
A person who is sprayed in the face with pepper sprays, would instantly feel burning in the eyes, nose and mouth, and perhaps in the throat and on the skin area. The burning sensation can last anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes if it isn’t treated right away. The eyes will become aggravated and most likely will swell shut, temporary blindness that can last 15 to 30 minutes. Coughing and difficulty breathing as your throat swells might also occur and can last from 3 to 15 minutes.

Pepper Sprays - How to Antidote

It's good to know a defense pepper spray antidote, in case spray is ever blown back on you, or in case you accidentally spray yourself or someone else. Since pepper spray is oil based (derived from oleoresin capsicum) it simply won’t wash away with just water unless applied over an extended period of time (say 30 minutes or more). We have discovered a couple of antidotes that work better than any of the OC decontamination treatment products on the market.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have been contaminated with pepper spray especially in the face DO NOT RUB the contaminated area because it will not remove or stop the side effects. Resist this urge as much as possible.
Pepper spray is an inflammatory agent. It is designed to inflame your capillaries and cause a horrific burning sensation. When you touch a contaminated area you aid the pepper spray in opening up the capillaries. And the instant you do this the burning sensation will increase tenfold and it will spread.
Stopping the Burn
There is no easy or pain free way to cure pepper spray contamination and different people react differently to pepper sprays. So what removing techniques work for some may not work for others. But through our experience the how to steps below will help you get through the experience with the least amount of discomfort possible.
Our first aid recommendation for pepper spray removal is to start with applying whole milk to the affected area. You can apply it to the affected area via a spray bottle, splash it directly on your skin, saturate a clean towel and lay it over the affected area or submerse the affected area. The milk should help take the burn away. However, this will not remove the oils in the pepper spray. For getting the oils off we recommend using the below antidote.
Removing the Pepper Spray Oil from Your Skin
Use a solution of 25% “Dawn” dishwashing detergent and 75% water. You can probably get away with lessless detergent but we have always used this formula. Use cold water and make up at least a gallon because you are going to have to wash the affected area at least 7 to 8 times.
If your face is contaminated mix the detergent in a bowl that that is deep enough to immerse your face in for 10 or 15 seconds at a time. Let the detergent start to do its job of breaking down the oils. Do not use your hands or a cloth to wipe the solution away. Just let it sit. Once you have done this a few times you can start lightly using your hands (after they have been dipped in the solution) or use a solution-saturated towel to work the detergent into your skin. This is most likely going to activate your capillaries and the pepper sprays. This is normal so try to remain calm and patient. Decontaminating yourself from pepper spray can take as little as 15 minutes to as much as 45 minutes before symptoms subside. Recovery depends greatly on your skin type.
Once you can readily touch your face without too much discomfort, you can use a little more pressure to work the solution in. Once you are to this point rinse your face between the applications of the solution. You may even wish to make up a new smaller batch of solution that is clean and does not have any oil residue in it. Because your skin will absorb some of the oils you will not be able to completely wash it out. But by this time at least the effects will be tolerable.
If you get pepper spray in your eyes when wearing contacts, take them out as soon as you possibly can. Throw them away: getting the pepper spray off them will be practically impossible. Blinking helps wash the capsicum from the eyes, which isn't much comfort to someone who has to spend the next half hour waiting for the pain to diminish. You can also try flushing eyes with saline solution.
What Happens When You Have Been Sprayed with Pepper or Defense Spray
Unlike tear gas, which wears off fairly quickly and can be (to some extent) washed off, pepper sprays main ingredient hangs in there, causing serious discomfort for more than a half hour after exposure and even after attempts at washing away. Capsicum creates heat and minor nerve irritation, actually reducing other signals sent from nerves to the brain. The debilitating effects last for more than 30 minutes, and lessen over several hours.
When you spray an attacker with pepper spray, the body's reaction is immediate. The eyes shut automatically, causing temporary blindness, and the sprayed person, unable to see, often panics. The mucus membranes of the mouth, nose, eyes and respiratory airways react defensively to the capsicum burn, producing tears, a running nose, saliva and coughing as the irritated cells in the airways and lungs try to rid themselves of the chemical. The sprayed person may try to rub his eyes, but rubbing pepper spray tends to spread it around a bit more and can make the burning worse as it further penetrates the skin. As well as irritating the face, pepper spray causes the same burning sensation you get when you bite into a hot pepper masquerading as a green bean in that innocent-looking Thai dish. It hurts everything it touches, and yet it doesn't kill you, or even leave you maimed. (There have been a few reported, but unsubstantiated, deaths from pepper spray. These events have usually occurred when law enforcement officers fail to follow after spray procedures. Some asthmatics have suffered anaphylactic shock from pepper spray. However, the reported instances of death from pepper sprays are very few and very unusual).
Pepper Spray and Allergic Reactions
Although, there are no known specific lethal dose or lethal concentration listed on the Materials Safety Data Sheet for OC it has been implicated in the deaths of some individuals sprayed with it. These people had a violent allergic reaction that was life threatening known as anaphylaxis. Symptoms of this condition include obstructed airways as a result of swelling, fainting and shock. Those with a higher risk of an adverse reaction to pepper spray are asthmatics. Recently reported in a history of violent behavior and confrontations with law enforcement was another bizarre risk factor, although this may be because the people had a higher probability of exposure or a higher probability to have multiple exposures to give allergic sensitization. If you have asthma but would like to carry tear gas for self-defense then you may want to consider a formulation that doesn’t contain oleoresin capsicum if you are worried about the possible wind blowback or at least get a foam type spray to avoid the risk of airport OC particles. However, the use of foam does not reduce the risk of a bad reaction should the assailant take the spray and use it against you. This shows the importance of using the pepper sprays only in defense of people and not property because of this reaction. In these litigious times it also adds potential liability.

What to do for Self Defense?

There are many things you can do when it comes to self defense to improve your odds of keeping safe and sound. You should perform target practice with your self defense weapon and you should always stay in tuned to your surroundings and take a self defense class. It will not only get you in shape it will help in defending yourself!
There are many instructional avenues out there for you to learn about defense. Take advantage as you can learn quite a bit so you will have better knowledge in the event you are approached by an attacker. This will give you an edge if you have to physically ward off a person. Scout out local instructional classes in your area or buy a self defense training video to train at home. This will at least teach you the basic moves of defense against an attacker. If you should decide to take a class or self teach, practice the moves over and over again so you will be better prepared and remember what you have learned.
Staying safe means constantly looking around at your surroundings, beware of what’s going on. While walking make sure you keep your head up and moving in a circular motion exuding confidence so you keep awareness in your mind. The last thing you want to do is make yourself look like an easy target to a would-be attacker. Walking with your head down and not paying attention is a disaster waiting to happen. Your would-be attacker will know this! It also allows him/her to come at you by surprise.
Never let your guard down to an attacker. The last thing they want is attention drawn at them. Your assailant would not expect it and this might help you as he/she might be thrown off by that. Make a lot of noise, scream as loud as you can, yelling, the assailant will not be expecting this reaction and might just want to get out of there before any attention is drawn to the situation. Never allow yourself to be an easy target.

To help avoid these types of situations, meaning, physical contact you should carry a self defense weapon at all times. Pepper Sprays, Stun Guns and TASER products are all good choices for self defense weapons. It is most important that you however, choose which one is right for you. Personal Alarms are also a great defense device. They might not look like much but they can put out some very loud sound. These devices are meant to draw attention. Whichever self defense weapon you choose to carry, make sure you ALWAYS have it in the on and ready position. It will not do you any good if you have it tucked away somewhere! Your weapon needs to be located where you have immediate access.
The best SELF DEFENSE tip I can give you is to always try to stay safe, out of precarious situations, walk with someone else if possible and in lit areas and carry a Self Defense Weapon. Make sure you are fully versed on its operation and make a lot of noise. Remember noise attracts attention. The last thing your attacker wants is attention.

Suggestions for Woman on Carrying Self Defense Products
Being a woman, sometimes you feel vulnerable in certain situations like walking alone in a dark parking garage, an empty parking lot or jogging alone and justifibly so. While basic common sense and keeping very alert while in these situations and knowing the surroundings is your best self defense tool, there are many other items you can use that can help you protect yourself tremendously and give you a sense of security. Listed below are items that you should think about carrying at all times. These items can be carried in your purse, pocket, coat! Best of all you can arm yourself and help with your own protection.

Pepper spray seems to be the most popular self defense weapon for women, pepper sprays come in a large variety of styles, sizes and functions. Make sure you check the expiration date periodically as they do expire and lose their effectiveness. Learning how to maneuver pepper spray prior to having to use it is very important. Some styles have safety features that will need to be disabled prior to use.

Whistles might not seem like a high tech piece of self defense equipment, but they are, easy to carry, easy to use and cheap! Make sure the one you purchase has enough decibal to be heard from a long distance away. Whistles come in two forms one being the type you have to blow into and the other with a push button with a push of your thumb. Some newer whistles can actually be heard up to one mile away.

Stun guns come in a large variety of sizes, styles and strengths and are often small enough but still provide a lot of voltage. The most popular stun gun is the cell phone with detachable wrist strap. This wrist strap, if the attacker should get the stun gun away from you will detach and disarm the stun gun. This way the stun gun cannot be used against you. This model particularly is easily carried in your purse or pocket and comes with 800,000 volts of power! That’s enough to take your attacker down and let you get to safety. An attacker will most likely give up early when you start to discharge it and they see the sparks starting between prongs.

There are a large variety of Electronic personal alarms and are often loud enough to be heard for well over one mile away, and can also be loud enough to harm your attacker, beware the sound may also affect you. Some personal alarms are made to carry on your person and others are for hanging on doors, windows, etc. The Door Guard Alarm is a wonderful product. Compact and hangs on any door knob.
Carrying one of these tools with you can tremendously increase your chances for safety and can even give you that extra sense of security and confidence that you need. Don't wait until something happens before you take steps to defend yourself. Act now and get one of these tools to carry with you. We all need to protect ourselves.
If you do a lot of travel and stay at motels/hotels frequently I suggest you get the door alarm. It will sound a high pitch alarm if someone tries to enter the room.

How Do Hidden Cameras Work??
How do hidden cameras work? A small board camera is built into an everyday item. The camera can be wired which means it is connected to the DVR or VCR using a cable. The camera can also be wireless, in this case the camera transmits a signal to a receiver that is connected to the DVR or VCR.
Can I get audio in my hidden camera? No you cannot. According to United States federal laws, audio should not be used in a surreptitious manner. One example of surreptitious interception is audio in a hidden camera. This includes pinhole board cameras and all covert or hidden cameras; i.e., a clock radio. Audio in a hidden camera or board camera is only available to law enforcement agencies. Title 18, Section 2512.
What is the difference between wired and a wireless camera? Wired cameras have a video cable that runs from the camera to your recording or viewing device such as a DVR, VCR or monitor. Wireless cameras have a built-in transmitter that sends the video signal to a receiver. The receiver connects to your recording or viewing device.
How far can a wireless hidden camera transmit? Standard wireless hidden cameras can transmit up to 1000 feet and high-powered wireless hidden cameras can transmit up to 2500 feet.
How many wireless cameras can you have in one location? You can have up to four wireless cameras in one location. You can view all cameras at once using four receivers or you can see one receiver and switch to each camera. You will only be able to view one camera at a time if you only use one receiver. If you want to install multiple wireless cameras in one location it’s best to order them at the same time so that we can put them on different channels.
Will a cordless interfere with wireless cameras? Cordless phones that operate on the 2.4 GHz frequency will cause interference with 2.4 GHz cameras. Interference should be minimal and usually occurs if the phone is between the camera and receiver. Wireless Internet, networks and Wifi can cause interference too.
What is a Quad? A Quad is used with a VCR or other single channel recording device that splits your monitor into 4 sections allowing you to view 4 cameras at once.
What is a 2.4 GHz wireless frequency? A frequency is used to transmit a signal or data like video. 2.4 GHz is the specific wireless frequency that our transmitters use to send video signal to a receiver. All of our wireless cameras operate on the 2.4 GHz frequency. Range varies from 200’ to 700’ depending on environmental conditions. These units are FCC approved.
Is the transmitter FCC approved? The transmitters used in all of our wireless systems are FCC and Industry Canada Certified.
What is CCD? CCD is used in professional cameras because of its high-resolution quality and it’s ability to record in low-light situations. CCD is basically a small silicon chip that receives the light and turns it into voltage variations which makes up an image. It’s usually measured in inches with 1/3” CCD being the standard. They are higher priced but are great for cameras that may require vision in near darkness.
Will a Quad allow four cameras to record at the same time? Yes, you can record all four cameras at the same time. You can also record using a switching monitor, which will record the camera that is showing at that moment.
Do the receivers work through walls up to two feet thick? Yes, as long as there isn’t excessive amounts of metal in the wall.
Do the plug and play connections require extra wire to run the signal back to the VCR or TV? Yes, you need to buy the length of cable you need. We offer the CA-25, CA-50, CA-100 and CA-150.
What is the difference between a PC based DVR and an Embedded (stand alone) DVR? A PC based has all the functions of a computer. An embedded DVR functions only as a DVR.
How many hours will a DVR record? The amount of time a DVR will record for is based on the size of the DVR’s hard drive, the number of cameras recording and the number of frames per second it is recording at. Our stand-alone DVR uses 3.4GB per camera per day. 4 cameras stand alone on 250GB hard drive will record for 18 days. 8 cameras stand alone on 250GB hard drive will record for 9 days. 16 cameras stand alone on 500GB hard drive will record for 9 days.
What is a plug and play connection camera? It is an RCA video plug and a power plug on the camera for easy connection to VCR or TV, this is done by running the RCA (Aux) line into the VIDEO IN of the VCR or TV. The TV or VCR must be set on the correct channel to view the Video in Picture.
How many cameras can I hook up to one TV? You can hook up as many cameras as your TV has inputs. Most TV’s have 2 inputs but when using a quad you can hook up four cameras.
How long will the camera last with a 9-volt battery? The Cyber Eye and BD-127 will last 5 hours.
Between what temperatures is it safe for cameras to operate in?
It is safe for B/W cameras to operate between -23C to + 50C or -10F to +122F
It is safe for Color cameras to operate between -23C to +40C or -10F to +104F
It is safe to store cameras between -30C to +70C or -22F to +158F
What is the operating voltage of a camera? Our cameras range from 9 volts (CMOS) to 12 volts, and also 24-volt professional models.
What is the varifocal lens? A varifocal lens is one where the focal length of the lens can be varied. This is a fancy way of saying it is a zoom lens. Most varifocal lenses have, and in almost all circumstances should have, an auto iris feature.
What is a fixed lens? A fixed focal lens cannot zoom. The focus is fixed. A fixed focal length lens usually allows more light to pass through the lens at a given length than a varifocal, or zoom lens. This can be important in low light situations.
