So you purchased your Self Defense Spray what now?

So you have successfully taken the first steps in personal protection and purchased yourself a self defense spray.  Now what should you do?  Rather than buy it and put it aside and forget about it you should take the time to experiment and develop practice drills. 

If you are carrying your self defense sprays in your purse, remember you want to keep possession even if your purse is snatched.  Instead of keeping it inside your purse you should place it on the outside clipped to the purse so while you are walking with it you can keep your hand on it at all times.  This way if your purse is taken you will have retained your self defense spray as you may need to use it at that point.


Keeping in good practice you should always have your self defense spray in your hand and ready to use while doing any walking as to your vehicle, from a restaurant, shopping whether it’s the grocery store or a mall.  How you choose to carry your self defense sprays doesn’t make a difference as long as you carry it.  If you find yourself in a potentially bad situation have the pepper spray in your hand and ready to go.  You only have minimal time to bring the pepper spray to action if needed so it’s better to be prepared.


Most importantly having yourself mentally ready to actually use your self defense spray on someone is crucial.  This is why you need to practice with it and rehearse what you would do in the event you should need to really use it.  You need to feel comfortable while being able to draw it quickly and spray it sufficiently to the facial area.  By doing so, you can change the outcome of a bad situation from victim to survivor.


I cannot stress enough the importance of hands-on practicing with self defense sprays.  You may want to check with your local police department to see if training classes are held on its use.  In the end you’ll be glad you did.

Self defense sprays should be carried with you at all times, after all this is why you purchased it right?  Crime happens when you will least expect it to; one must be prepared to defend at any given time.  We can’t predict the future but we certainly can do things to prepare for it.  Self defense sprays are one of the best affordable defensive devices available on the market today.

Remember to always carry your pepper spray, day or night.  Criminals don’t keep a certain schedule; they are out there at all times throughout the course of a 24-hour day.  Stay alert while you are out and pay close attention to your surroundings.  Always have your self defense spray in position and ready to go. 

By taking these precautionary measures you can prevent you from becoming someone else’s victim.
