Stun Guns or Taser - Which Is Right For You

Everyone is different and have distinctive tastes so what device might be right for you may not be right for the next person.
For many carrying a gun is not an option but feel that pepper spray may not be enough you might want to check into purchasing a stun gun or TASER.
Stun guns and TASER guns are not one in the same. With a stun gun you will be able to take down your assailant by utilizing a less-lethal short burst of high voltage shock. The stun gun is producing a charge of electricity to your attacker which will enable them long enough for you to get to safety or the authorities. This electrical charge confuses the attacker's nervous system.

Stun guns are hand held and run on batteries. Some stun guns today are rechargeable and plug in like your cell phone. Stun guns can charge through heavy clothing and if you should be touched while using the stun gun you will not feel the shock. The disadvantage of stun guns is you will need to be in close contact with your attacker in order to discharge the gun.
The TASER gun is made with the same technology as a stun gun and your attacker will react somewhat the same as being stunned with a stun gun. With the TASER you do not have to be in close contact with your potential attacker. The TASER gun utilizes cartridges which propels the barb wires that attach to your attacker and discharges electrodes as a stun gun. This will immediately take your attacker down.
The TASER presents advantages of not having to be within 15 feet of your attacker unlike a standard stun gun. The TASER can also be used as a backup stun device for that added extra zap.
These devices are both great forms of self defense weapons. What’s the difference between the two? Stun guns require you having close contact with your attacker. Stun guns are more affordable, less up keep and depending on which model you choose, smaller in the hand.
The TASER allows for up to 15 feet distance, more expensive and up keep is more costly as you need to purchase cartridges and magazines.

They are both great devices for self defense weapons. It just depends on which you would prefer and affordability. Make sure you check with your local and state laws prior to purchasing any less lethal weapon.
