Small Wonders of Pepper Spray! Which Should You Buy?

Pepper sprays are one of the most up to the minute in self defense weapons.
Pepper sprays are very affordable; most of them are $20 or less depending on size, very easy to use and are one of the most effective self defense weapons.

Pepper sprays can help even the weakest of persons get away from a potential attacker. Their effectiveness is quite strong and can last for hours after being sprayed. Pepper sprays come in all sizes, forms and styles which doesn’t make it easy to choose the one that’s best for you!

While shopping for pepper spray make sure you look for OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) an ingredient derived from hot peppers. This is very important as some of the sprays on the market do not have OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) and will not work properly. Pepper sprays are measured by Scoville heat (SHU).
How you choose to carry your new self defense weapon is also a major factor as to which style and size you purchase. Pepper sprays come in small sized pens to one pound containers. They can be bought as a keychain style with a detachable latch, lipstick form to carry in your purse, however be careful with this style as you might not be able to easily access it in your purse as it’s very compact and can be easily lost inside your bag! The smallest ½ ounce sizes will have enough pepper spray for approximately 20 - ½ second bursts which is definitely enough to take your attacker down. There is also a visor clip pepper spray, great for the car!

Pepper sprays cause severe lung irritation, coughing, tearing and temporary blindness which can last for hours after being pepper sprayed. Additionally OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) usually ranges from 10% to 18% in strength!

Whichever pepper spray you choose to purchase for you or a loved one, you can be sure it will do the job of taking down your attacker. Many people make light of pepper spray and its power, don’t take it for granted. This little defense tool will take care of business!

Pepper Sprays Are a Great Choice for Many in a Defense Tool!

Pepper sprays are a very well-liked self-defense option for men and women. Pepper sprays are very easily carried, easy to operate and do the job they are made to do in defending you. They are also legal in most of the USA.

In order to take full advantage of pepper spray's defending capability, one should consider taking a class from an expert user. There are right and wrong ways to administer pepper sprays. If you are planning on using pepper spray as a self defense tool you should know the proper way of handling it, this way you would have been up to speed on its usage, what it can and can’t do and how to handle yourself if in a bad situation where you have to spray an attacker.

Don’t ever pull your weapon on a potential attacker unless you plan on using it. That goes for any type or form of weaponry including hand guns. If you should have to use it, make sure when you aim at an assailant you immediately push on the trigger and spray it in the direction of their face. You also want to hopefully be in a position so that the pepper spray doesn’t blow back at you. The last thing you need at that time is to have been sprayed also. The pepper spray will depending on the type you choose, discharge in a stream, gel or foam. If you choose the stream pattern style while spraying directly into your components face, make sure you are waving it in a back and forth motion keeping as tight of pattern as you can. Make sure you spray until there isn’t anything left in the can and then take off and get to safety as fast as you can. You don’t want your attacker to have an opportunity to use the pepper spray back onto you.

Always have the safety latch in the off position while in spray mode. You don’t want to forget to take the safety latch off. You need to ensure that you are pointing the pepper spray in the right direction prior to spraying. If you aren’t holding the canister correctly you will spray yourself and this could be dreadful.

Carrying your pepper sprays with you at all times and knowing how to properly use it if need be will help you feel a sense of security you would not otherwise feel without your pepper spray.

Holiday Shopping - Stay Safe!

With holidays amongst us it’s a time for celebration with family and friends. Unfortunately, with this time of year also comes the criminal type. We have all been in situations where we are running around doing last minute shopping gifts for everyone we love, we also might tend to forget to keep close attention to our surroundings!  Very important to stay focused to what's going on around you.

WHILE SHOPPING

When parking your vehicle, try to stay in the well lit areas if available and where a lot of people are walking around.

Always lock and roll windows up on your vehicle, hide all valuables such as loose change, GPS Units, cell phones, stereos, etc. A much greater chance your vehicle will be broken into if you leave these items in plain view.

If you are hopping from one store to the other and have already purchased items, make sure you lock them in the trunk of your vehicle. You should preferably place them in the trunk while leaving the current store, prior to getting to the next so no one sees this and tries to open your trunk when you walk away from the vehicle.

When you may be waiting to be picked up make sure you stay in well lit and busy areas.

Never leave small children in a vehicle alone, not for one second. Carjacking has become quite popular all over the USA. Make sure your children have a good understanding of what to do in the event you get separated. Children should go to a clerk or cashier’s area for help. They should never go to the parking lot by themselves.
Purchasing a video recorder for your vehicle could be the best money spent in the event you are robbed or your vehicle is stolen.

While ATM cards are now equipped to be used as a credit/debit card, this is your best option for making purchases. Criminals who are seeking out their next victim are looking for the people who are showing large amounts of money.

Make sure you are carrying your purse close to your body and holding on tight. It’s best if you are carrying a wallet to keep it in your front pocket.
IMMEDIATELY REPORT ANY LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS TO THE POLICE!

The Power of Pepper Sprays!

Pepper Sprays are more of a self defense weapon than you may have believed.  When one is sprayed properly it causes tearing of the eyes, difficulty breathing and pain for up to 45 minutes.  This is more than enough time for you to take that opportunity to get away from your attacker.

Pepper Sprays come in many styles and sizes.  There are pepper sprays that are very concealable such as the lipstick pepper spray.  This handy compact spray looks just like a tube of lipstick!

The keychain pepper spray is a great item as it also comes with a detachable latch system that allows you to either carry it on your keychain or remove the pepper spray and place in a pocket, purse or anywhere you like!
The Pepper Spray Gun is my favorite!  This compact self defense weapon mimics a hand gun and is reloadable!  Refills can be purchased and kept on hand in case you should need it.  This pepper spray gun is designed to be shot from all angles where others are not.  It sprays in a stream form and shoots upto 25 feet!

Pepper Gels when sprayed will stick to the face.  If the attacker should try to wipe the gel away from their face it smears it in even more and causes more pain and suffering!

All these pepper sprays and many many more I haven't listed here are wonderful forms of self defense weapons.  In today's world you should consider having one of these pepper sprays handy in case you should need it.  One will never know if and when they might be faced with the need to defend themselves or a loved one.

Pepper Spray Pen!

The Pepper Spray Pen is an outstanding self defense weapon. It is light weight, small to conceal in a pocket and very easy to operate.

If you’re thinking about purchasing Pepper Spray Pen, make sure you know how to use it.

Here are some handy ideas:

The pepper Spray Pen is a small self-defense weapon and mimics an ordinary pen. This works as it masks the appearance and makes it very simple to carry on you. What makes it so unique in its effectiveness as a self defense weapon against assault is it contains Capsaicin. As in all pepper sprays Capsaicin causes irritation. Due to its irritating of the mucous membranes are the Pepper Spray Pen initiates difficulty in breathing and coughing.

Given that the matter affects the eyes also, this causes massive tearing, triggering the body in trying to eliminate the irritation. Because of this the Pepper Spray Pen will cause momentary blindness.

The idea is to have a good understanding the effects of the Pepper Spray Pen will have on the attacker, and also on you if you should get sprayed. It is crucial that you make sure you position the Pepper Spray Pen correctly prior to spraying so you will infect the assailant correctly and not shoot yourself in the meantime.

The wind can be a huge factor when spraying the Pepper Spray Pen as well as other types of pepper sprays. Make sure the wind is at the rear of you.

Make sure you read the instructions that come with your Pepper Spray Pen at time of purchase to check spraying distance. The last thing you want is to be too far away from your attacker, use the pepper spray and not have it affect him or her.

While shopping for your Pepper Spray Pen or any other types of pepper sprays, make sure you check that the formulation is of Oleoresin Capsicum; this form comes directly from peppers and is the safest of pepper sprays on the market.

Keep in mind that these are also less-lethal and will not cause any permanent damage on the person who has been sprayed and they are also environmentally safe.

Carrying Self Defense Weapons!

If you are carrying any type of Self Defense Weapons as pepper sprays, stun guns or something as simple as a set of keys in your hand, remember the element of surprise is your best ally.

Whatever you do never let your attacker know your next move. Threatening your would-be attacker with any type of weaponry only gives him or her opportunity to be more prepared in retaliation. This will give them the chance to take your weapon from you.

Obviously the best thing to do is avoid situations so you don’t have to use your weapon but as much as we want to sometimes it just finds us and we are left to stand our ground.

If you have a self defense weapon on you, make sure you have it in ready mode. If you are carrying it you better make sure you use it like your life depended on it because your life just might depend on it. Don’t be afraid to use your weapon. It’s him or you, remember that.

Never pull out your weapon and bluff. If you are going to pull out your weapon you better be prepared to use it. If you don’t use it mostly likely your would-be attacker might take it from you. Remember you want to surprise your assailant with it, once you pull your weaponry, immediately use it. There’s no time to think about it.

Don’t forget your self defense weapon is made so you may get to safety away from your attacker.

Once you have used your weapon on the attacker and they drop, don't hang around and wait. Get to safety right away and call the police.

CITY LIVING! SMALL TOWN WOES!

This Keychain Personal Alarm as compact as it is packs alot of sound!

Whether you live in the midst of a big city or are visiting, it is fundamental to know how to stay safe. Most out of towners who may hail from a small rural area may be set back a bit while visiting a big city by the quantity of criminal and violence that occurs, by awareness and keeping in tuned to your surroundings while visiting bigger cities you have a better chance of staying safer no matter where you travel to.

It is imperative that you understand the surroundings you are in and are alert to it. Tourists are great targets in this environment. Be cautious on where you go, and concentrate on everything around you. A would-be criminal doesn’t want to be seen prior to a crime and is lurking in the background waiting on people who appear to be unfamiliar in the territory they are exploring.

Night life is exciting in the big cities, stay in an area that is well lighted. The last thing you want is to find yourself on a dark street or alley; this is the perfect area an attacker is hoping to take his victim. Always try to be with a group of people while walking in the big city or anywhere for that matter. Assailants are less likely to take on a group. If you have to walk on your own, walk quickly, pay close attention and get to your destination as fast as possible. If you are approaching a vehicle get in as fast as you can and make sure you lock the doors before you do anything else. Criminals thrive on the element of surprise; you don’t want to let them have an opportunity.

Many, many people are out and about in the big city, you stand a higher chance of being assaulted. These criminals that are lurking are watching you and will prowl the victims they believe are carrying a lot of cash or appear to have valuable items. Separate your money so it’s not all in your wallet or pocket. This way you don’t have to show all the money you are carrying when you are purchasing something. As farfetched as this may seem some people actually carry a money belt on them. Although this may seem like a great idea, the whole point here is not to have all your money in one spot. Watch your wallet, there are many pick pockets out on the street, they are very good at what they do too. They can take your wallet without you even noticing until you go to get money from it. Utilizing your front pockets is probably a better spot to keep your credit cards and other items.

If you are carrying a purse, which I don’t suggest, make sure you have placed closely to your body and hold on to it tightly. A wise choice is to wear a fanny pack with the opening in the front of you.

Be wary of people who may approach you on the street. Obviously not all are bad, but you must believe that anyone can be a potential threat. Let’s face it even the best of looking individuals can be your worst nightmare. If you don’t feel comfortable with the conversation excuse yourself and continue on. You may discover that they are following you, make sure you stay in a well lit public place. If you are capable at this point you will need to either find a policeman, which in the big cities are usually out and about on every corner or go to the police station.

While it is important that you always carry some sort of protection, a personal alarm may be just the device for big city trips. These personal alarms are meant to be heard and draw attention to the situation at hand. The last thing a would-be criminal wants is attention on him.

Give the Gift of Protection!

As the holidays are approaching and another year will have come to an end and another about to start, we all should take a moment or two and reflect on what events have happened throughout the year!

For many, the 2010 year was a successful year, everything went smoothly and as planned, your business is thriving, you might have been given a substantial promotion at work, had a beautiful wedding, purchased a new home, had a child, the joyous happenings everyone should be gifted with.

And then there are those who were not as fortunate. For many this was not such a great year. Jobs have been lost, homes gone into bankruptcy, individuals have been robbed, raped, beaten and even killed, homes invaded, belongings have been taken.

So as we look back on all the events that have taken place throughout the US, maybe it's someone close to you or a loved one, a complete stranger across the US from you, this is a time of giving.

Give the gift of protection.

Whether it be a personal self defense weapons as a pepper spray or a home surveillance system. Although these tools can't prevent some instances that have happened they can however help aid you in other situations that might have been able to be prevented throughout the year and many more years to come.

The gift of protection is the best gift of all!

Self Defense Weapons – Which One?

You have decided to purchase yourself or a loved one a Less-Lethal Self Defense Weapon! How do you know which one is right for you?

Less-Lethal self-defense weapons have become a very attractive means of defending yourself against assault. Taking a Martial arts class is also a great way to defend yourself however it is not for everyone. Some individuals cannot physically handle this type of defense and have to rely on other means. Taking classes on physical defense is time consuming and expensive. Most people who are taking martial arts have been doing so for many years. Less lethal self defense weapons such as Pepper Sprays, TASER® and Stun Guns make a great choice for those of us who are not physically able, or just plain don’t want to take classes, to thwart off an attacker.
Prior to buying your self defense weapons you should take a few factors into consideration:

Is the weapon I want to purchase legal in my area? Certain states do not allow citizens to carry self defense weapons at all, some states allow weaponry with restrictions and others pretty much will let you carry whatever you want. You should check with your local authorities before you buy any weaponry.

Once you have made a decision on which self defense weapons, take the time to learn something about your new device. It is very important that you know about it and how to use your weapon, read up on it, pay attention to any literature that comes with it, practice with your new tool. Make sure you know what to do so if you should need to use it you will be fully versed on its operation.

If you should choose to purchase more than one type of self defense weapon, then you could cause yourself confusion if you carry more than one type at a time. The last thing you want, if you do have a confrontation is have to make a decision on which device to use. If you are only carrying one type of protection then there isn’t any decision making to deal with. You want to keep your focus on the situation at hand, not worry about which weapon to use.

Self Defense Weapons are a great tool for defending yourself. Find out if it’s legal in your area. Once you make your choice the rest is up to you. Learn more about the weapon you chose to purchase, practice, practice, practice. You want to know exactly how to handle your new device if need be. It’s very important that you always carry your new weapon on you at all times. Get used to having it around. It will not help you if you don’t have it with you.

None of us want to have a situation arise where we have to take the initiative to defend ourselves or a loved one. This seems to be a way of life these days. Our homes are being invaded; people are being killed, robbed, raped and beaten. It’s time to take control of your life, take action and prepare yourself.
A lot of people think this won’t happen to me but it does happen, every minute of everyday all across the world. Get your self defense weapon today.

Are you paying attention to affordable Self Defense Weapons?

Many women are buying self defense weapons to carry with them in an event they should be attacked. It is with reason so many women today are purchasing self defense weapons. The crime rate has been on the rise with no foreseeable end to it. Less-lethal self defense weapons are a better and much safer method of defending yourself than firearms.

Less-lethal self defense weapons can save your life, unlike firearms, if you pull it out of the holster you better be prepared to use it. Can you shoot someone that easily and take another person’s life? Easier said than done by most, it takes the right person who can actually pull the trigger of a gun while on the street. I’m not talking about being in your own home, an intruder comes in and you shoot him or her, however even then some people just don’t have it in them to shoot.

Self defense weapons are a safer method of defending yourself if you use the weapon correctly. A lot of attention has been put on the TASER® and in some cases stun guns also these days, however in my opinion I believe that they are being misused in certain instances. We do not need to speak on that subject as that is an entirely different subject!

Women tend to be more endangered. Statistically men are violating more and more women as most women are physically weaker of the two sexes. Men who are looking to harm someone will most likely choose the weaker opposition. This type of male wants to dominate and take total control. With less-lethal self defense weapons you will lessen the danger of an assault.

Less-lethal weapons are just right for women and come in many designs. Pepper Sprays and Stun Guns that look just like lipstick, stun guns that appear to be cell phones, some pepper sprays, stun guns and even the TASER® come in colors just for women if you prefer! Self defense weapons are compact in design, easily concealed and can be carried on your person at all times.

While purchasing any of these self defense weapons you should take the time and effort to read on it, learn how to use it, practice using it and mostly make sure you have it on you at all times and that it is readily available if you should need to get to it urgently.

Purchase your self defense weapon today. They are very affordable and can save your life.

Do not show your potential attacker that you are nervous on using your pepper spray. Take control of the situation; let your assailant know you mean business by not letting him/her see your fear. I know this seems hard to do, but you must have control, if you show you are afraid it can backfire on you.

Pepper Sprays! The Dos and Don’ts

Pepper sprays are legal in all 50 states and territories of the US. In some states the pepper sprays are regulated but still legal.

Even though self defense sprays are not lethal they will and do cause pain. The hurting and affliction are very momentary. The entire point of the function of self defense sprays is to disrupt an attacker’s assault by creating a short-term distraction, like anguish. When you are triumphant in transferring a stream of pepper spray into your assailant’s face, the unbearable hurting will replace his spotlight from the assault to defending himself. At this instant of disruption, you have to get away as fast as you can.

Accidents do happen so be cautious when

After you receive the pepper spray you have purchased check the pepper spray to make sure it is protected inside the case or that the cover is closed properly. Check the pepper spray regularly to make sure it is safe. Check the safety to make sure the pepper spray is in the locked position.

Don’t leave the pepper sprays in the car on severely hot days. You should be carrying it on you anyways! The heat an enclosed vehicle can generate is severely above recommended temperatures that you should keep the pepper sprays at. Neglecting the pepper spray inside the car you are taking a risk of leakage, contamination of your vehicle and damaging the pepper spray itself.

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

In the event you are sprayed with the pepper spray, don’t panic. Pepper sprays are oiled based so I don’t recommend washing your face with water as it will not really help the situation. You will experience burning eyes, tearing, difficulty breathing and impaired vision. It will be painful but will subside over a period of time. It usually takes approximately 20-40 minutes for the pain to subside but the grief may last longer.

Home Security Systems

There really isn’t any limits on the level of home security systems you can install to protect you, your family and your home. If you are the slightest tad in technical systems, you can furnish your home with a surveillance system that merely a few years back would have cost thousands for a skilled expert to install and monitor. Throw up a few Webcams throughout the outside of your home, and you may perhaps catch thieves in the act just by having your cell phone on even if you are miles away from home. At the same time, you could disrupt a potential robber using a $10.00 door alarm!

What does one need to prevent your home and family from criminals? Do you need an expensive surveillance system? A simple doorbell furnished with a hidden camera? It all depends on your circumstances and of course budget is a big factor!

In today’s times you can track anybody or thing with GPS. Protection for your car in case it's stolen, install a tracking device, Worried about your new licensed teen driver? You can place a camera on the rearview mirror or dashboard that allows you to record any activity while he or she is in the car. GPS can even be placed on your dog’s collar nowadays!

A lot of individuals have a home alarm system and believe this will prevent them from ever being robbed, a reasonable assumption? Not necessarily! It's true that a would-be criminal may keep going if a home obviously has an alarm system in place, the police replies in many areas are so slow that the thief would perhaps make away even if an alarm sounds. Studies do show thieves do leave quicker and take less when there's an alarm system in place and neighborhoods that have a lot of home alarms are usually safer.

Private home security cameras were once used by the rich but these days they are commonly used by home owners as installation is simple and you do not need a professional to install them. Just place some wireless cameras in locations around your home, connect the cameras to your computer network, and well there you have it! A Surveillance System!

You can view the camera taping from anywhere as long as you have internet access you enter your IP address into any web browser, even utilizing your cell phone. If this is too difficult for you, purchase a dummy camera with a blinking LED light and place it in a visible spot, it might be enough to keep thieves away.

Video intercom systems let you get a good look (and even a listen) at visitors without having to get too close. They also provide crucial distance and time if the caller does not, in fact, have good intentions.

If you would like to put an extra amount of security between you and the person you don’t know at the door, a video intercom system is right for you.

In the end, you have to choose which home security system fits your needs and budget for you. Shop around talk to experienced people, possibly someone you know who has a system can direct you to the right people. Bottom line, you should have some sort of protection for your home, whether it is home alarms placed throughout your home or the most prominent of surveillance systems. Get protected today.

Pepper Sprays – Types and Use

How’s this for protecting an ATM machine! One South African bank, has outfitted a few of its cash machines with pepper sprays to guard against criminals tampering with the machines. When the camera detects the machine is being tampered with, pepper spray squirts at the criminal and the police are called! Now that’s the way to go!

We all should know by now that the dynamic component in pepper spray is oleoresin capsicum (OC), found in various types of hot peppers, to include cayenne peppers and other types of chili peppers. The capsaicin is accountable for the spicy sensation you receive while eating hot peppers. There isn’t any odor, it has no color, and flavorless, all it takes is one milligram (about 0.00003 ounces) of pure capsaicin and blistering forms on your skin.

Pepper spray is typically dispensed from in an aerosol form. This allows for spraying easier. Using an aerosol canister allows you to spray farther and in many instances wider than other forms of spray containers.

Three common spray patterns for pepper spray dispensing

• Stream -- A narrow stream of liquid is expelled. This concentrates the solution on the area being sprayed, added difficulty in aiming accurate.

• Mist -- A mist of fine liquid is sprayed. This allows the spray to cover a larger area and makes it easier to hit the target's face however this method will spray back in your face if you are not paying attention to the wind direction.

• Fog -- A fog has a wider range of spray.

Pepper sprays are approximately 4.5 inches tall and about 1.5 inches wide, they have a trigger to discharge the spray, and all come with a safety mechanism to prevent accidents. These pepper sprays are compact can be carried in a purse, pocket, just about anywhere on your person.

Pepper sprays can be easily concealed in a simple form as a lipstick, its effects will deter an attacker long enough for you to get to safety.

The Working of Pepper Sprays

Holding a pepper in your hand doesn’t feel any different than holding a piece of fruit, right? Now take that same pepper and put it to your lips or on your tongue, you will feel the heat!

The capsaicin in a pepper reacts with the nerve endings in your mucous membranes that are responsive to heat and cold. That is why your mouth will burn when eating a spicy pepper.

Capsaicin is the same component that makes peppers seem hot, its effectiveness is calculated in Scoville heat units (SHU) a heat scale that is used to figure the heat intensity of peppers. The whole heat level is derived on the quantity of capsaicin exists. On average pepper spray is rated between 500,000 and 5,000,000 SHU. To give a comparison, a Jalapeno pepper is approximately 8,000 SHU. Other types of hot peppers rate close to 350,000 SHU.

The harshness effects of pepper sprays will vary depending on the quantity of pepper spray that is used, the potency of the spray and where it's sprayed. If sprayed precisely into someone’s face, the effects will probably be more powerful and/or longer-lasting.

A person who is sprayed in the face with pepper sprays, would instantly feel burning in the eyes, nose and mouth, and perhaps in the throat and on the skin area. The burning sensation can last anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes if it isn’t treated right away. The eyes will become aggravated and most likely will swell shut, temporary blindness that can last 15 to 30 minutes. Coughing and difficulty breathing as your throat swells might also occur and can last from 3 to 15 minutes.

Pepper Spray Treatment - Oil and Water do not Mix!

Pepper sprays are made up of Oleoresin capsicum and Oleoresin capsicum is oil based. As we all should know oil and water do not mix very well. Imagine how complicated it is to cleanse grease off of a cooking pot with water alone, it's nearly unfeasible. Water is made up of polar molecules and grease is made up of non polar molecules. Polar molecules just connect with other polar molecules, and non polar molecules only connect with other non polar molecules. As we have all tried, using water will not wash that greasy pan! The water will never bond with the grease and transmit it down the drain.

Just like grease, oleoresin capsicum oil is made of non polar molecules, while drinking water or splashing your face in it may provide immediate relief it will not take the oil or offer any permanent relief. What should you do if you are sprayed with pepper spray?

Very significant, DO NOT touch the affected area. Pepper spray is oil-based and can simply expand to other portions of the body just by touching it.

Blink briskly to produce tearing in your eyes. This could help relieve some of the pepper spray from your eyes.

Use cleansing as hand soaps, shampoo, dish soaps then rinse with water. Soaps help break up and take away the oil while water cannot.

Use a baby shampoo to help rinse the pepper spray from the eye area. Just like soap, this will help remove the oils, it can be used on sensitive areas without causing more irritation.

Emergency medical personnel usually have some form of wipes or solution to help treat the effects of pepper spray. If you carry pepper spray, it is probably a good idea to have medicated wipes that are designed to cleanse your skin if it's been exposed to pepper spray.

These wipes can prove very useful in case you are accidentally sprayed.

Stun Guns! A Much Needed Self Defense Tool.

There are so many Stun Gun styles, types and voltage how do you choose which gun is right for you? The singular most reason you would consider buying stun guns is to help in defending you or a loved one from a possible attacker. No one wants to be caught up in this type of situation and we should all want to do what it takes to prevent and in the event needed protect ourselves and loved ones from violent attacks.

Everyone has a different opinion on which stun gun is the best, I can tell you more power, more effectiveness in bringing someone to their knees. Stun guns have high voltage and low amperage; some stun guns are stronger than others. Stun guns are an extremely valuable less-lethal means of defending yourself. In case you are worried you will get a shock while using the stun gun the answer is NO! That is the splendor of high voltage and low amperage. The amperage is a key component in how severe one could get wounded. Most stun guns have a lot less amperage than in your home. An example of high voltage and low amperage would be; when shocked by a door knob or something metal this give off approximately 25,000 volts which is enough to hurt a little bit!

When a would-be attacker is hit with a stun gun the energy is casted off into the assailant’s body, the stun gun interrupts the neurological muscles. This depletes the muscles of all blood sugars and turns them into Lactic acid. This will make the attacker very unstable and disoriented. Contact at a ½ second causes the assailant’s muscles to contract and cause a reaction. A 3 to 5 second hit by a more powerful stun gun will take down an attacker to his knees. Less voltage stun guns will do a good job, but the higher the voltage the better effect it will have and allows you more time to get to safety.

Stun guns are a great self defense weapon and will help you. Always have it with you, in the ready to go mode. Fear is not an option, you must make sure you stay in control and use your weapon in defense against an attacker. These devices will help put your mind at ease, your children going to college, your job requires you to walk to and from your car from a dark dimly lit parking garage, many, many reasons why you should carry one.

Can you think of a reason why you shouldn’t own a Stun Gun?

Stun Guns. A Perfect Self Defense Weapon

Stun guns can successfully be used as a self defense weapon. One should carry a stun gun while walking, jogging, in your car, everywhere. Stun guns are a small electrical weapon with two electrodes extending out from its base. Stun guns are compact enough to carry in the palm of your hand, your pocket, purse or anywhere! When you set off the stun gun, it exudes high voltage and a small amount of amperage. Because the amperage is at a very low concentration, stun guns are considered as a less-lethal weapon as you will not cause any severe and lasting injuries. Most people believe that the voltage is what makes the stun gun, not true, it is the amperage!

Stun guns will immediately incapacitate an attacker utilizing 3 to 5 second contact with your target. The voltage of the stun guns will instantly translate the individual’s blood sugar into lactic acid. This instantaneously depletes the assailant’s muscle energy and the attacker cannot move about. The neurological impulse which directs and controls muscle movement is interrupted. The attacker will become unstable, puzzled, will not be able to stand. This situation will remain for 5 to 10 minutes, long enough for you to seek help and/or just get to safety.

When you touch your target with Stun guns they are more successful when you reach from the waste up to the shoulder area. This way the whole body will be affected. By touching someone’s leg or arm only, lessons the chances that the stun gun will have the same affect as hitting from the waste and up to the shoulders. By you turning on the stun gun and discharging it can be enough to send a would-be attacker off in the other direction as the sound from the electrodes are loud and offensive.

Stun guns are effective on any sized person and will not loose its affect due to alcohol or drug use.

Stun guns are a highly effective self defense device, one should make sure that you always keep the battery charged and carry with you at all times.

Self Defense Weapons - There All Good

Everyone has the right to defend themselves. A right to protect ourselves with whatever power is relatively required against any attack. Because we are the primary line of defense critical of anyone trying to hurt us, it is our responsibility to be highly equipped in advance in the event of an attack. Furthermore, law enforcement is not available to guard us at all times; we owe it to ourselves to have the greatest self-defense weapons accessible to us.

In my opinion, stun guns are one of the best self-defense weapons. Stun guns use high voltage, but low current electrical discharge to overpower the body's voluntary muscles. This causes the attacker to lose balance and become taken aback. After an assailant is struck with a stun gun he will drop right away and will stay down long enough for you to get away. Stun guns are less-lethal and do not produce everlasting harm.

Pepper Sprays are an alternative in self-defense weapons. The compound found in the pepper spray, Capsaicin is a derivative from chili plants. This causes the inflammation of the mucous membranes, in doing so makes breathing very difficult. Pepper Sprays also cause the veins in the eyes to swell, making it nearly impossible to see. Your assailant will experience a harsh burning feeling in the eyes, nose, throat and skin. All these symptoms and irritation could render your attacker harmless and powerless for up to 45 minutes. Pepper sprays are an excellent option for anyone looking for a self-defense weapon that is effective, compact and reasonably priced.

Martial arts training is another successful method of self-defense weapon if physically able. Although these teachings are not for everyone, this method will educate you on the proper use of your hands, legs and body movements in general to sufficiently disable your assailant. There are techniques you can use against several attackers, psychological tools that stop you from freezing under emergency circumstances and injurious movements that are helpful in any encounter to reduce the authority of a larger person. You can remove weapons from an armed assailant barehanded utilizing these techniques.

At the same time all of these self defense weapons can help in defending yourself in a physical manner, the mind-set is also of supreme significance in any crisis. At all times be emotionally and bodily ready, as you will not know if and when you might need to defend yourself. Keeping yourself in control is key whether you are using a self defense weapon or are physically challenging your attacker!

Pepper Sprays - How to Antidote

It's good to know a defense pepper spray antidote, in case spray is ever blown back on you, or in case you accidentally spray yourself or someone else. Since pepper spray is oil based (derived from oleoresin capsicum) it simply won’t wash away with just water unless applied over an extended period of time (say 30 minutes or more). We have discovered a couple of antidotes that work better than any of the OC decontamination treatment products on the market.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have been contaminated with pepper spray especially in the face DO NOT RUB the contaminated area because it will not remove or stop the side effects. Resist this urge as much as possible.
Pepper spray is an inflammatory agent. It is designed to inflame your capillaries and cause a horrific burning sensation. When you touch a contaminated area you aid the pepper spray in opening up the capillaries. And the instant you do this the burning sensation will increase tenfold and it will spread.

Stopping the Burn

There is no easy or pain free way to cure pepper spray contamination and different people react differently to pepper sprays. So what removing techniques work for some may not work for others. But through our experience the how to steps below will help you get through the experience with the least amount of discomfort possible.
Our first aid recommendation for pepper spray removal is to start with applying whole milk to the affected area. You can apply it to the affected area via a spray bottle, splash it directly on your skin, saturate a clean towel and lay it over the affected area or submerse the affected area. The milk should help take the burn away. However, this will not remove the oils in the pepper spray. For getting the oils off we recommend using the below antidote.

Removing the Pepper Spray Oil from Your Skin

Use a solution of 25% “Dawn” dishwashing detergent and 75% water. You can probably get away with lessless detergent but we have always used this formula. Use cold water and make up at least a gallon because you are going to have to wash the affected area at least 7 to 8 times.

If your face is contaminated mix the detergent in a bowl that that is deep enough to immerse your face in for 10 or 15 seconds at a time. Let the detergent start to do its job of breaking down the oils. Do not use your hands or a cloth to wipe the solution away. Just let it sit. Once you have done this a few times you can start lightly using your hands (after they have been dipped in the solution) or use a solution-saturated towel to work the detergent into your skin. This is most likely going to activate your capillaries and the pepper sprays. This is normal so try to remain calm and patient. Decontaminating yourself from pepper spray can take as little as 15 minutes to as much as 45 minutes before symptoms subside. Recovery depends greatly on your skin type.

Once you can readily touch your face without too much discomfort, you can use a little more pressure to work the solution in. Once you are to this point rinse your face between the applications of the solution. You may even wish to make up a new smaller batch of solution that is clean and does not have any oil residue in it. Because your skin will absorb some of the oils you will not be able to completely wash it out. But by this time at least the effects will be tolerable.

If you get pepper spray in your eyes when wearing contacts, take them out as soon as you possibly can. Throw them away: getting the pepper spray off them will be practically impossible. Blinking helps wash the capsicum from the eyes, which isn't much comfort to someone who has to spend the next half hour waiting for the pain to diminish. You can also try flushing eyes with saline solution.

What Happens When You Have Been Sprayed with Pepper or Defense Spray

Unlike tear gas, which wears off fairly quickly and can be (to some extent) washed off, pepper sprays main ingredient hangs in there, causing serious discomfort for more than a half hour after exposure and even after attempts at washing away. Capsicum creates heat and minor nerve irritation, actually reducing other signals sent from nerves to the brain. The debilitating effects last for more than 30 minutes, and lessen over several hours.

When you spray an attacker with pepper spray, the body's reaction is immediate. The eyes shut automatically, causing temporary blindness, and the sprayed person, unable to see, often panics. The mucus membranes of the mouth, nose, eyes and respiratory airways react defensively to the capsicum burn, producing tears, a running nose, saliva and coughing as the irritated cells in the airways and lungs try to rid themselves of the chemical. The sprayed person may try to rub his eyes, but rubbing pepper spray tends to spread it around a bit more and can make the burning worse as it further penetrates the skin. As well as irritating the face, pepper spray causes the same burning sensation you get when you bite into a hot pepper masquerading as a green bean in that innocent-looking Thai dish. It hurts everything it touches, and yet it doesn't kill you, or even leave you maimed. (There have been a few reported, but unsubstantiated, deaths from pepper spray. These events have usually occurred when law enforcement officers fail to follow after spray procedures. Some asthmatics have suffered anaphylactic shock from pepper spray. However, the reported instances of death from pepper sprays are very few and very unusual).

Pepper Spray and Allergic Reactions

Although, there are no known specific lethal dose or lethal concentration listed on the Materials Safety Data Sheet for OC it has been implicated in the deaths of some individuals sprayed with it. These people had a violent allergic reaction that was life threatening known as anaphylaxis. Symptoms of this condition include obstructed airways as a result of swelling, fainting and shock. Those with a higher risk of an adverse reaction to pepper spray are asthmatics. Recently reported in a history of violent behavior and confrontations with law enforcement was another bizarre risk factor, although this may be because the people had a higher probability of exposure or a higher probability to have multiple exposures to give allergic sensitization. If you have asthma but would like to carry tear gas for self-defense then you may want to consider a formulation that doesn’t contain oleoresin capsicum if you are worried about the possible wind blowback or at least get a foam type spray to avoid the risk of airport OC particles. However, the use of foam does not reduce the risk of a bad reaction should the assailant take the spray and use it against you. This shows the importance of using the pepper sprays only in defense of people and not property because of this reaction. In these litigious times it also adds potential liability.

And the answer is? Self Defense Weapons

Pepper Sprays, Stun Guns, TASER, Personal Alarms, Home Surveillance

It seems not that long ago things appeared to be so much easier. Yes people struggled financially to make ends meet…..

but what about how it was?

• Men would leave the house daily, going to work to make the best living they could for their families….
• Women on the most part stayed at home to tend to house chores and the children….
• Supper was the main event of the day…. The family would sit around the table talking frantically about their day…..
• Your children would walk to school holding their books with no worries in the world except maybe about the neighborhood bully….
• You thought nothing of leaving your home unlocked, maybe taking a walk to the corner market….Things were just all around simpler then.

Look at it now…..

• It takes two incomes just to try and make ends meet……
• Dinner? What’s that?....Try getting everyone together at one time to sit down, eat and have a civil conversation….
• Walk to school? Waiting for the school bus can be a hazard these days. You read in the news all the time how someone tried to abduct a child while standing at their bus stop or on the school grounds.
• Leave your home unlocked? Absolutely not in today’s world! Leaving it locked doesn’t help never mind an open invitation for someone to just walk in.
• Rape occurs at the rate of 1 in every 5 women in college….
• Muggings, robberies, killings, happening every minute every day all over United States.

It’s time the good people took a stand with Less Lethal Weapons

Self Defense Weapons, Personal / Home Alarms and Surveillance Systems have become an important part of our everyday lives. These devices can and have been known to aid you in defending yourself, your home and your business.

In today’s world every individual should be equipped with pepper sprays, stun guns or a TASER device. These self defense weapons are compact and can be carried on your person easily. I suggest Less Lethal Weapons as defense as some of us are not comfortable with carrying lethal weapons.

Pepper sprays, stun guns, personal alarms and even TASER are not meant for lethal action against anyone, they are a great tool for self defense and if used properly they will in deed do the job they are suppose to. These tools are a deterrent; you aim, shoot and run to safety.

Your home and business should also be a priority. Home alarms and/or surveillance systems have come along way today. Most home alarms are very easy to install, they are compact, make a lot of noise and can be taken with you anywhere.

Surveillance systems are very sophisticated today. You can view in real-time, meaning you can be anywhere in the world and as long as you have internet access, you can view what’s going on where your system is installed. Surveillance systems come in a large variety and there’s one for every budget.

What to do for Self Defense?

There are many things you can do when it comes to self defense to improve your odds of keeping safe and sound. You should perform target practice with your self defense weapon and you should always stay in tuned to your surroundings and take a self defense class. It will not only get you in shape it will help in defending yourself!

There are many instructional avenues out there for you to learn about defense. Take advantage as you can learn quite a bit so you will have better knowledge in the event you are approached by an attacker. This will give you an edge if you have to physically ward off a person. Scout out local instructional classes in your area or buy a self defense training video to train at home. This will at least teach you the basic moves of defense against an attacker. If you should decide to take a class or self teach, practice the moves over and over again so you will be better prepared and remember what you have learned.

Staying safe means constantly looking around at your surroundings, beware of what’s going on. While walking make sure you keep your head up and moving in a circular motion exuding confidence so you keep awareness in your mind. The last thing you want to do is make yourself look like an easy target to a would-be attacker. Walking with your head down and not paying attention is a disaster waiting to happen. Your would-be attacker will know this! It also allows him/her to come at you by surprise.

Never let your guard down to an attacker. The last thing they want is attention drawn at them. Your assailant would not expect it and this might help you as he/she might be thrown off by that. Make a lot of noise, scream as loud as you can, yelling, the assailant will not be expecting this reaction and might just want to get out of there before any attention is drawn to the situation. Never allow yourself to be an easy target.

To help avoid these types of situations, meaning, physical contact you should carry a self defense weapon at all times. Pepper Sprays, Stun Guns and TASER products are all good choices for self defense weapons. It is most important that you however, choose which one is right for you. Personal Alarms are also a great defense device. They might not look like much but they can put out some very loud sound. These devices are meant to draw attention. Whichever self defense weapon you choose to carry, make sure you ALWAYS have it in the on and ready position. It will not do you any good if you have it tucked away somewhere! Your weapon needs to be located where you have immediate access.

The best SELF DEFENSE tip I can give you is to always try to stay safe, out of precarious situations, walk with someone else if possible and in lit areas and carry a Self Defense Weapon. Make sure you are fully versed on its operation and make a lot of noise. Remember noise attracts attention. The last thing your attacker wants is attention.
